Urgent Reboot Required – AlmaLinux Security Update GhostLock & Kernel Privilege Escalation

To address the critical GhostLock vulnerability (CVE-2026-43499), we will be rebooting all managed Linux based servers. This reboot is necessary to apply the latest security patches and kernel updates.

What you need to know:

Action: All managed Linux Based servers will be rebooted.
Reason: Apply patches for a high-risk local privilege escalation flaw that may allow privilege escalation and container escape.
Schedule: Thursday, 2026/07/16 @ 9:00 PM MYT onward

During the reboot window, services on these servers will be temporarily unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritise system security.

Patched kernel versions

AlmaLinux 8 is patched in kernel-4.18.0-553.141.2.el8_10 and above.
AlmaLinux 9 is patched in kernel-5.14.0-687.24.1.el9_8 and above.
AlmaLinux 10 is patched in kernel-6.12.0-211.32.1.el10_2 and above.
